Today, several members of NTPD participated in an active shooter drill that was held at Red Land High School and coordinated by Fairview Township Police. On Friday, June 26th, the Newberry Township Police Department conducted a DUI checkpoint. During the checkpoint 10 drivers were arrested for DUI in a 3 1/2 hour time period. On June 6, 2015 Newberry Township Officers were dispatched to the Valley Green Townhomes on White Dogwood Dr. for an unconscious patient who was suspected of overdosing. When officers arrived they found the patient unconscious and with shallow breathing. It was suspected that the patient had recently used heroin. On November 11, 2014 the Newberry Township Police Department conducted another frequent Motor Carrier Assistance Program (MCSAP) detail which resulted in the findings of numerous unsafe safety violations. MCSAP Officers Grimme and Bloom participated in the enforcement detail. On October 31, 2014 the Newberry Township Police Department along with the assistance of multiple other law enforcement agencies conducted a DUI Checkpoint in the Township. The focus of the enforcement was to rid our local highways of impaired drivers and identify other criminal activity.
