Detective Daniel Grimme

 

Daniel Grimme is an eight (8) year veteran of the Newberry Township Police Department. Det. Grimme currently serves in the Criminal Investigations Support Unit.  Detective Grimme should is recognized for his personal motivation, excellent teamwork and the professionalism that he displayed over the duration of the calendar year of 2017; furthermore, this exemplary job performance demonstrates his dedication to this department and more importantly to the communities to which he serves.

Officer Trevor Stuck

Sergeant Braxton Ditty

 

Sergeant Ditty and Officer Stuck responded to 3000 blk. of Old Trail Road, in an attempt to execute a warrant on a wanted person. Upon arrival to the residence, the subject barricaded himself inside the residence indicating that he had a weapon. Sergeant Ditty and Officer Stuck immediately and without any reservations assisted the other occupants of the residence to safety to prevent them from being harmed by the suspect. After several hours, the subject was apprehended with no injury to any civilians or officers.

The above officers responded to the 1700 blk. of Valley Green Road for a domestic incident where the individual reportedly discharged a firearm in close proximity to other persons. Upon arrival to the residence, the subject barricaded himself inside the residence with several firearms. Officer Nauman along with Officer Bortner and Sergeant Martinez immediately and without any reservations assisted the other occupants of the residence to safety to prevent them from being harmed by the suspect.

 

Sergeant Braxton Ditty

 

Sergeant Ditty investigated a fatal hit and run pedestrian accident that occurred on York Haven Road and resulted in the death of a young township resident. Sergeant Ditty conducted a proficient and thorough investigation of the heinous act. This thorough investigation ultimately resulted in the offender being identified, arrested and successfully prosecuted for the offense.

Detective Grimme spent countless hours and many hours of his personal time working on the 2017 National Night Out Event the Township of Newberry. This dedication showed in the overall success of the event which was attended by over 2,000 individuals surpassing the attendance of any previous years.

Officer Richard Breski

 

Richard Breski has been a Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program (MCSAP) officer for the Newberry Township Police department for several years. Officer Breski has been instrumental in mentoring other Newberry Township Police MCSAP officers and enforcing motor carrier safety regulations within the township. This program is designed to increase safety measures for the motoring public while traveling on roadways with commercial vehicles.

The above officers assisted in the investigation of a fatal hit and run pedestrian accident that occurred on York Haven Road. These officers assistance was instrumental in the success of the investigation which lead to the successful prosecution of the offender.

The above assisted the department with a suicidal individual who had barricaded himself inside his residence located at 3050 Old Trail Road, Lot 54.  These officers established a perimeter and evacuated numerous residents enduring extreme weather conditions to ensure that no other Newberry Township residents would be harmed by the subject.

Daniel Grimme was dispatched to York Haven Hydro Plant in York Haven Borough for an individual who was unresponsive and believed to have overdosed on an unknown drug. Detective Grimme administered Naloxone to the subject as well as provided other treatment to them which ultimately revived the individual. Detective Grimme’s intervention on this date is a direct reflection on this agencies commitment to combat opioid related deaths within our community and provide this struggling individual with another chance at life.

Sergeant Ditty was dispatched to Hill Point Drive in Newberry Township for two individuals who were unresponsive and believed to have overdosed on an unknown drug. Sergeant Ditty administered Naloxone to both subjects as well as provided other treatment to them which ultimately resulted in the subject’s survival. Sergeant Ditty’s intervention on this date is a direct reflection on this agencies commitment to combat opioid related deaths within our community and provide these struggling individuals with another chance at life.

Officer Briar was dispatched to the 2000 blk. of Red Bank Road in Newberry Township for an individual who was unresponsive and believed to have overdosed on an unknown drug. Officer Briar administered Naloxone to the subject as well as provided other treatment to them which ultimately resulted in the individual’s survival. Officer Briar’s intervention on this date is a direct reflection on this agencies commitment to combat opioid related deaths within our community and provide this struggling individual with another chance at life.

Officer Bortner was dispatched to the 400 blk. of Red Mill Road in Newberry Township for an individual who was unresponsive and believed to have overdosed on an unknown drug. Officer Bortner administered Naloxone to the subject as well as provided other treatment to them which ultimately resulted in the subject’s survival. Officer Bortner’s intervention on this date is a direct reflection on this agencies commitment to combat opioid related deaths within our community and provide this struggling individual with another chance at life.
